Nanjamma Chinnappa

P.T. Bopanna’s new book, Nanjamma Chinnappa: Chronicler of Coorg Culture, is a tribute to the late Boverianda Nanjamma Chinnappa, a renowned Kodagu researcher. The highlight of the book is an insightful interview of Nanjamma by Dr. Nervanda Veena Poonacha, an eminent sociologist and women’s studies scholar, where Nanjamma shares her life journey. Nanjamma, along with her husband Chinnappa, worked on several projects, including the English translation of Pattole Palame, a book on Kodava culture. The Chinnappas are also known for their monumental work Ainmanes of Kodagu, documenting the traditional dwellings of Kodagu’s original inhabitants. This book includes the interview with Nanjamma, a foreword by Dr. Sowmya Dechamma, and chapters on Kodagu, its people, and cuisine. The cover is designed by Bhakti Saraswat-Devaiah.
